Disk Defragmentation in Windows

A good way to speed up your PC/Windows is using disk defragmentation. Disk defragmentation reduces fragmentation on your hard disk. Basically disk defragmentation is a way to organize different types of files together for faster accessing of the files. It also compacts all files together so a large area of free space is created, this also speeds up accessing files on your hard disk. Below is explained how to do this in Windows 7, Vista and XP.

As said above, defragmentation can take a very long time(depending on the size and amount of files on your hard disk). You do not have to wait on it to finish. However, your PC should never be turned off while it is defragging. It is adviced to run the defragmenter once a month to keep files organized and compacted on your hard disk.
